Tweens are in the awkward middle: too old for the kids' list, too young for the teen one. The kids' questions make them roll their eyes and the teen questions make parents nervous. This list is for the gap — 100 never have i ever questions written for ages 10 to 13, funny enough for a sixth-grade sleepover and clean enough to read out loud in front of a parent.

They are grouped by the things tweens actually have opinions about: school, sleepovers, siblings, phones and games, food, sports and activities, and the small embarrassing moments everyone has had and nobody admits to. Nothing about dating, nothing about anything they would have to hide from a grown-up.

Read them from this page, print the sets you want, or open the free Never Have I Ever game and let it draw questions on a tablet. If you're running a birthday party, the party section has a version that works with fifteen kids and no chairs.

Why Tweens Need Their Own List

A ten-year-old and a thirteen-year-old are not the same person, but they will end up at the same sleepover, and the game has to work for both. The trick is questions about shared territory — school, siblings, phones, snacks — where a fifth grader and an eighth grader have equally strong feelings and equally funny stories.

Tweens also have a sharp radar for questions that are secretly about lecturing them. Every question here is about something funny or slightly embarrassing that happened, not about something they should or should not do. That is the difference between a game they ask to play again and a game they tolerate.

How to Play With Tweens

Ten fingers. Everyone holds up ten fingers. Read a question. Anyone who has done it puts a finger down. Last person with fingers up wins. This is the classic version and tweens pick it up in one round.

Stand up, sit down. Better for a big group or a party. Everyone starts standing; if you have done the thing, sit down. Last one standing wins the round. Loud, fast, no counting.

Story round. After each question, one person who put a finger down has to tell the story in one sentence. This is where the game gets good — and it is the reason to keep the questions clean, because the stories are going to be told.

Playing It at a Birthday Party

For a big group, use stand-up-sit-down with a parent reading. Fifteen kids, no chairs, no counting — the last one standing each round gets a point, and the game runs itself for twenty minutes. Pick the school, food and sports sets; they get the most laughs from a mixed group who may not know each other well.

Keep the embarrassing set for the smaller sleepover crowd that has known each other since kindergarten. It is funnier when everyone already knows the story.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Are these questions really clean enough for a 10-year-old?

Yes. There is nothing about dating, crushes, or anything a tween would need to hide from a parent. The most daring set is the slightly embarrassing one, which is about things like calling a teacher mom.

What's the difference between the tween list and the kids list?

The kids list is written for ages 6 to 9 — simpler questions, no phones. This list assumes a phone or tablet, school stories, and a sense of humor about being embarrassed, which is where 10 to 13 lives.

How many questions do we need for a sleepover?

About 30 for a normal sleepover, 50 if they play the story round. Nobody has ever needed all 100 in one night — that is what the next sleepover is for.

Can I print these?

Yes. Print the page or copy the sets you want into a document. Each set is about 15 questions, which fits on one card.

Can tweens play the online game without an account?

Yes. The free Never Have I Ever game on this site needs no sign-up and no download — open it on a tablet, choose the question set, and tap to draw.

Is this okay for a school classroom?

The school, food, sports and sleepover sets work well as a Friday-afternoon icebreaker. Teachers usually skip the phones set if the school has a no-phones policy.
